Monte + Tex is the latest must have fashion label for babies that is non allergenic, environmentally friendly and stylish too!

The label, created by 28 year old Sydney based designer Alisha Oxley, was established after she witnessed first hand the frustration experienced by her family surrounding the birth of her baby cousin, who suffered from skin allergies and eczema.

“We had trouble not only finding clothing that didn’t irritate his skin, but that were practical too.

With the growing number of children born suffering from skin allergies, added to the heightened concern for environmental awareness, I decided I wanted to create something that was not only good for kids and kinder on the environment, but that was also stylish and funky”.

And thus, Monte + Tex was born, proving a label can have a conscience whilst, maintaining its cool.

All products are made of 95% bamboo and 5% spandex, allowing for practical items that are anti-bacterial, environmentally sustainable, super absorbent and just plain better!

Already a favourite of celebrity yummy mummies such as Nicole Kidman and Sarah Wynter, Monte + Tex is sure to be a hit with mums and bubs across Australia!

winter collection

With children’s clothes today being so much about logos, characters and brash colours, the launch of Rube & Harri heralds a return to classic styles for children’s sleepwear.

Growing up in rural New South Wales wearing and loving classic cut pyjamas, Angela Smith (creator of Rube & Harri) discovered how difficult it was to find these PJ’s after having her first child Ruby. “I searched in vain to find stylish, classic PJ’s that weren’t licensed prints”. After finding out other mothers were experiencing the same problems she decided to design a sleepwear range from memories of her own childhood and thus Rube & Harri was born.

“My style is quite classic, I wanted to design something that I would want to wear if I was a child and of course, something I would love to see my children looking beautiful in,” Angela said. “I wanted to offer smart, simple designs with beautiful colours – not overdone. The print designs are inspired by classic looks; a lot of my prints are designed not to date. They’ll look great for years to come”.

Rube & Harri is a collection of simple yet beautiful pyjamas for boys and girls aged two through to seven and launched online in November 2009 with a summer range. The garments are beautifully made, finished with fine stitching and quality cotton fabric, the natural cotton fibres allowing the fabric to breath, making it more comfortable for children to wear. “Growing up in classic cotton PJ’s I remember them being practical as well as cool and comfortable to wear”. “Also they’re durable and hardwearing too which should make them as popular with parents as with the kids!”

The company took its name from Angela’s two children, Ruby and Harriet, who are beautiful and sweet, fun and make her smile and laugh, exactly what Angela wished to accomplish with the children’s sleepwear label.

The range of sleepwear is designed in Australia and made from natural cotton with the same care and attention to detail in the manufacture as with the design. Products are sold exclusively on the Rube & Harri website www.rubeandharri.com.au

 Oishi-M December 8th 2009

Oishi-m [Oy-shee-em] design and produce limited edition garments that splash kimono, vintage and retro fabrics together with denim and cotton to create funky unique garments for new born babies and busy little people (mostly 000-2, some T's up to size 4).

Little people can vary in size, shape and growth rates so our products are designed to accommodate these variances catering for both skinny minis and the chubba bubbas. Our range of jeans, trackies and bottoms are indestructible. They come equipt Oishi-m's unique 'Tummy Toastie' to keep bub's tummy comfortably warm and covered, ample nappy bottom space (yes, even cloth nappies can fit) and cuffs that can be rolled up for shorties or kept long for the long beans. Our tops including shrugs and t's are versatile for layering and growth spurts.

Uninspired and frustrated with the stock-standard frilly pinks and baby blues found on the High Street, Oishi-m [Oy-shee-em] was born from a passion to create a fashion-forward clothing line for infants and toddlers. Having become a mother herself, creative mastermind, fabric fiend and founder Fiona Willersdorf, saw the opportunity to combine her love of bespoke/hand made clothing with the fact that she had recently given birth to her yummy little daughter called Mila. Oishi-m was the result, Oishi = yummy in Japanese and M = Mila
Oishi-m = Yummy Mila

Based on her own mix-and-match style and a love for casual wear that can be dressed up or down, she started making Mila’s clothes using kimono, vintage and retro fabrics mixed in with her much loved denim. The clothes were designed to make her little girl look and feel amazing, and to last through the never-ending growth spurts.

It wasn’t long before Fiona began taking orders from Mothers’ Groups and selling one-off designs at trade shows and designer markets. This also brought interest from a variety of mass market retailers but Fiona was determined to keep to her idea of producing limited edition, unique fashion for people in the know and today, Oishi-m’s hand-made and original tops and bottoms can be bought for stylish babies from select boutiques in Victoria and New South Wales and now of course on-line.

As Oishi-m has grown, Fiona has been helped by soon to be Mum Miyo Fallshaw. Having met working together in the surf industry, Miyo now looks after the sales and marketing allowing Fiona to focus on fabrics and creations.

Oishi-m is 100 percent Australian made and owned. Our aim is to provide you with uniquely designed garments, constructed with 3 things in mind- easy to dress, constantly comfortable and forever fashionable. We believe our garments differentiate themselves from the standard product found in the average market place through edgy styling, limited edition vintage fabric’s and the way each product grows with your child, keeping them in style throughout each season.

and the little dog laughed was launched in January 2008 by Australian designer, Kylie Platt.  Kylie has a passion for fabrics and design, and particularly loves to combine textures and mediums; knits and fabrics, stretch and floral cottons, adding different layers to a piece that would otherwise be one dimensional.

Kylie draws a lot of inspiration from her own childhood, and particularly likes to create timeless pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia.  The inspiration for the labels’ name comes from one of her favourite nursery rhymes from her childhood, Hey Diddle Diddle

The brand specializes in clothing using super soft, stretch fabrics for ages 0-3 years, as well as 100% cotton hand knitted animals. This season’s style evokes a ‘touch of fantasy’.  Attention to detail is paramount throughout the range.  The range includes rompers with branded poppers, t-shirts, pants, shorts, bloomers, wraps and their signature long sleeve hoodies.  All tees, long sleeve pullovers, rompers and bloomers come packaged in a zip bag that can be reused to carry all baby essentials. Since their launch they have received a fantastic response, and are currently stocked in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, United Kingdom and United States.Kylie’s other passion is knits made from 100% pure cotton and bamboo.  A kaleidoscope of hand knitted cottons with woven fabric and corduroys to produce children’s toys that instantly bring you back to your childhood.   Her latest design, blankets made with a combination of hand crochet in pure cotton, corduroy fabric and grosgrain ribbon trim, are a perfect combination of a touch of old with a touch of new.

Eco Peko   September 12th 2009

They may be too young to chain themselves to old growth trees or join the fight to save the whales, but the bubs in your life can take up the greenie cause by kitting themselves out in sustainable clothing. (And promising to invent the no-emission car when they’re older; but first things first, eh?)

Eco Peko is a new bubs clothing label featuring two styles of organic teeshirts. Eco Chic is a bold ’save the earth’ style tee that comes in natural or retro green (gotta love this green) each tee comes with a very cute, box shaped, hessian bag for eco kids to put their treasures into. Eco Babies range is a soft subtle style tee that comes in natural or sage. Each shirt has a lovely message and an organic cotton bag as ‘eco babies say no to plastic’.This earth friendly fashion range is made from 100% Certified organic cotton, has a super high thread count (really soft stuff) and the knitting, stitching & dyeing processes are green from top to bottom. Making it a label every kiddie can get behind. Plus we’ll even throw in a packet of organic seeds to help get their veggie patch underway.

My personal fav is the slogan tee " My dad recycles more than your dad "
